MIDI Message Remapping

Hey there! Is there a way to remap MIDI messages within the Hapax. For example, can I sequence a Program Change, remap that to a Note value like C1 and send that out?

Use case: I have a Looperlative LP-2 and most of parameters are Note values rather than CCs. I’m still getting used to the Hapax, but I believe this means Instrument Definitions aren’t a help since the Notes can’t be saved in the definition (like Note on D#1 = Select Track 1) with helpful names (like Select Track 1).

My fallback will probably be using something like the CME H4MIDI to remap the MIDI messages. But I’m open to other suggestions!

Blokas Midihub might be the tool that you are looking for.

Can’t you afford to dedicate one track for it and send the notes from the piano roll? I guess you’ve thought of that, right? :slightly_smiling_face:

You could instrument definition just as a dummy list with note numbers and function in the name of the CC mapping as a reference.

Or maybe use DRUM tracks and group multiple functions into a single lane or only map those 8 functions you are actually going to use.

Yeah I can dedicate a Track—just trying to figure out how to easily trigger a note value and know what it’s mapped to.without checking the manual each time

So far a remap box like a H4MIDI or Midihub is probably the easiest workflow-wise

Bur the dummy CC isn’t a bad idea. I would just have to figure out how to handle numbers that have both a Note and CC (e.g., Note 20 = All Stop, CC 20 = Track Volume)

if the Drum mode allowed 127 pieces in a kit, I’d be golden!
