I’ve specifically requested that muting a track should only mute the recorded pattern from playing, and not mute anything else, like external MIDI coming into that track. That way we can:

- Play an external MIDI controller and hear it come out of that track’s CV or MIDI instrument
- Play a track’s recorded pattern and hear it
- Play an external MIDI controller while the pattern is playing and hear both
- Play an external MIDI controller while the track is muted, and hear the external MIDI notes but not the recorded pattern, because only the recorded pattern is muted **(not currently possible)**
- Tune a synth voice without deleting the pattern, creating a new sequence, or unplugging the synth voice’s CV input cable **(not currently possible)**

This is the one feature that causes me constant frustration with Hermod+, because I very often finding myself having to:

- Clear a pattern to be able to temporarily improvise a new melody or bassline or tune a synth voice, but then I have to re-record the pattern afterwards, which I, of course, can’t remember or play exactly as it was
- Duplicate the current sequence, which means I have to wait until Hermod+ switches to the new sequence, then delete the pattern from the new sequence, and then, of course, I have to manage switching between sequences

(when all I wanted to do was temporarily silence the previously recorded pattern)

I agree completely, this needs to be reverted to how original hermod worked! Or at very least be an option so that users can pick which behavior works for them. It has very big implications during performance.

Only point of yours I would challenge is this one: “Tune a synth voice without deleting the pattern”. you can do this just by pausing playback. Are you usually tuning your synth voices while playback is going?

All the music I make is improvised on the fly, as I perform. I often change tempo between songs / grooves, but usually only stop at set breaks. I tune synth voices before playing, of course, but analog synth voices like the Doepfer A-111-6 take a while to settle into their operating temperature, so tuning can drift for a while, and I don’t always have the luxury of a full warm-up before starting.

That said, the use case of being able to temporarily mute or pause a pattern so I can improvise a new melody, bassline, chords, etc, which I will then “revert” by un-muting/-pausing is hugely valuable to me. On Hapax and other grid-based sequencers, I would just stop the current clip in one or more tracks, improvise, and then restart any stopped clips. But Hermod+ just doesn’t allow anything like that. I really wish it did, because the current workflow feels really burdensome and frustrating, and to me, it feels like a major oversight in terms of playability and improvisation!

Hermod+ is a fantastic sequencer, but I feel like it needs just a few more refinements to elevate it. Resolving this muting issue, adding in more “practial” MIDI FX like overriding note velocities, adding in the ability to non-destructively set pattern start/end points for looping, adding undo/redo and snapshots, adding Match Chord (for example) would really solidify what’s already there, IMO.

> Please, allow again to play cv/gate with an attached Midi Controller while the track is muted. This was possible with the old Hermod but now, not any more. I often like to improvise and need to mute a track to quickly play a variation manually instead listening to the sequenzed notes. Please, bring it back again, that‘s very important to me…

Super important to my setup! Please bring this option back, its a real deal breaker with the plus…

Ok, i’ll say it. Hermod+ might need an expander with a few mor CV inputs at some point… 🙂

so i’m using my octatrack and arranger mode to guide me through my live set. now i have the problem that the program changes are linked to the pattern. is it possible to link them to the bank? one hierarchy higher? just an option in the midi in menu… that would make management a little easier

My biggest gripe on the Hermod+ right now is no option to send 0V-10V for note CV’s out. There is -5V to +5V and 0V to 5V in the CV Out options, but I have several osc’ that require 0V-10V for proper tracking and don’t do negative voltages. If using a Midi keyboard to send notes to your Hermod you are limited to C5 and up for tracking.

I use a +5V offset module to get around this sometimes but shouldn’t have to as I don’t have that many offsets available for 8 CV outs.,

Still dying for quality of life improvements around editing long sequences. It’s really rough editing anything longer than 2-4 bars without some way to trigger playback from a specific page/step in the pattern, especially when working on fine details in drum sequences.

I would love per track clock multiplication or division. I saw it mentioned above but wanted to add my opinion to this list. It would be fine as an FX block for me.

I would love to see the max number of steps increased from 256, ideally doubled. I most of the times have to shorten my sequences to fit 256.

I can’t believe this is not possible already: the ability to copy and paste track data (ie: notes & gates) from one sequence to another.

One thing in Hermod+ annoys me - In step mode, it is possible to enter notes by pressing a button in the 16-button matrix, which is great. When a button is pressed again, that note is deleted. So far, so good. However, when that button is pressed yet another time, _the note defaults to C3_. This seriously limits the possibilities for live sequencing.
**Feature request:** To have Hermod+ _remember_ the last note entered in a note slot in the 16-button matrix so that the note is not deleted when the button is pressed, but muted instead and bringing it back when the button is pressed again.
Preferably, this could be a feature which could be changed in the setup menu between ‘classic’ behaviour and ‘note mute’ behaviour.
I may be overlooking something, but I cannot find this functionality anywhere in the menus.

_(Might not be quick if you’re expecting to mute notes for liver performance, but if you press & hold the note the note is remembered. Now when you clear and re-add it, that remembered note is what is added back onto the timeline.)_

A mute note feature would be very welcomed though. Essential even. I’m sure there can be a button combo that could enable this.

This is also complicated by the fact that any note(s) entered with an external keyboard, or with the new fancy built-in semi-keyboard, _(forget what it’s called)_ are remembered and placed when you turn note/step on. But agree, this would be nice.

The built-in keyboard is called On-Air.

The Hermod+ is a wonderfilly deep sequencer. I had to dig deep into the manual and try out a few things In order to convince myself that this was not already possible to do.

I have filed my idea to Squarp for consideration.

Just got the Hermod+ this week and I´m really liking it, 8 cv and 8 midi with poluphony is agema changer for me. But, I allready do miss some features.

Most importantly, I would like to be able micro-move selected steps in time. You can already change the note, gate length and velocity afterwards, so why not timing? Yes, you can manually put the notes where-ever while being zoomed in, but I find quite that slow and not inspiring way to work. So I would rather punch in notes, and fine tune the notes and timing afterwards.
I´m suggesting for example using the X and Y buttons to shift selected notes in time. Now pressing note/step and Y, creates random notes, but using X and Y for micro-timing would be more intuitive in my opinion. OP-Z has this kind of feature.

Then, an undo and redo function would cool.

Per step parameters for effects seem neccessary, as many have said, an ratchet for every note/step isn´t very usable, and sacrificing a CV channel for the this use seems also too much.

Still, I love this module alot allready after a few days of using it.
