Hi, new Hermod+ user here. I’m trying to get it to work as described in the manual but can’t figure it out.
I bought the Hermod+ to use as a CV recorder based on the capabilities described in the online manual. In the manual, it shows 8 tracks, each of which can contain 16 patterns (clips of CV musical phrases) any of which assigned per track - with each track being connected to a monophonic synth voice (CV controlled Oscillator/ADSR/VCA).
The manual explains that the Hermod+ is hierarchical, and it explains that each track can have up to 16 patterns nested inside it. (see picture from manual)
How do I record these 16 patterns for track 1 and switch between them? I’m really stuck.
Sequences and patterns
In Hermod+, a sequence represents a collection of 16 patterns (P1 to P16). These patterns are variations of the same track.
For example, SEQ1 holds all the P1 of the 16 tracks.
Selecting SEQ2 would give you 16 fresh empty patterns for all of your tracks, allowing you to write a new section for your song.
Hopefully this clarifies the hierarchy, rather than 16 independent patterns which are then configured into a sequence, instead it’s a little more fixed. Each pattern is tied to the corresponding sequence. So Track 2 Pattern 2 can only ever live on Sequence 2.
I would have preferred something more flexible like how Hapax separates patterns from sequences as then you can simply make one pattern for say a 4x4 kick drum and reference it across all the sequences rather than duplicate it.
This would mean you would only need to change it once to have the update applied across all the sequences. And you would have 15 spare pattern slots available for other kick drum variations.
What doesn’t help is you can’t even copy & paste a track across sequences. Urgh.
