Hello,
I am creating a midi remixer based on teensy 4.1 that I was mostly planning to use with Hapax.
I thought for a very long time that the synchro was wrongly done (I don’t code it’s all GPT) so I used a fixed internal BPM. Wich was not really practical and not perfect.
And now I did some test with Teensy on usb computer, as well as Elektron analog Rytm and I link them with Midi OX.
And it works fine in sync.

I’m impatient to test with real midi cable but I must wait for some components

But in wait any idea if there is a known problem on Hapax side for midi sync on usb host ?

i had sync problems when hosting a teensy 4.1 to run m8 headless but it turned out to be because of my host which was a raspberry pi 4b. i couldnt tell where the issue was coming from until i tried hosting m8 headless on a windows computer and the problem disappeared.

dunno if that has anything to do with your setup. i guess it was down to raspberry pi os not having a ‘realtime kernel’. since all midi and audio had to go through the rpi. hapax was not to blame! but it sure did light up the m8 headless with awesome sequences and modulations! i still use hapax for the same purpose, with a much better host for the m8 headless front end.

Well I’ve learnt a bit, at first I was flashing with “serial+usb” while midi is slowing down . Now it is only serial and it is still allowing midi out . But now I got a Raspberry doing my 8 midi outs and also generating midi delays.
I also learnt a lot about asking GPT what is using processor the most and memory and giving instructions what to remove because without instructions he’s doin complete WTF !!! Like making possible undo for everything, including every knob position !!!

raspberry pi is a waste of time for music honestly. i thought i would try to make it work but i decided to use stuff that already works. it was a nice idea but rpi is just not a good platform for music without lots of help.

It’s perfect for what I do with each Raspberry
1 to deal with screens (I got 5) and leds
2 for my 16 encoders but this was too much as I was not finding the more appropriate solutions
1 for the 8 midi outs and some midi effects like delays and arpeggio and chord filters

But all the sequencer is running from Teensy 4.1. With the usb out I can also show the song mode on an android screen like smartphone or tablet. Probably later also automation but I don’t need it now as I got very good P.locks for everything (midi CC as well as enveloppes or LFO parameters, delays or rolls parameters)
Teensy is totally ok with a lot of different modulations , each ENV or LFO can have multiple inputes and outputs wich allows easy sidechains.
If I use Track 1 as input of ENV of Track8 then this ENV is visible on both tracks enveloppes lists, so it can be changed from one track or another

im glad its working for you. m8 works for me using windows as a host but now that there is m8 ios, i dont use the teensy anymore. m8 also has everything you mentioned above. good luck with your sequencer!

not really sounding like anything in common with my sequencer being only midi but with really advanced modulations and also groove functions (like a roll that can accelerate linear or exponential, with really fine parameters)
I hope I can do a concrete video tomorrow
You can see here for exemple the midi delays also have this kind of exponential acceleration parameters as w

m8 does a lot of those things and audio and synths too. also midi out/rerouted internally. but cool ill check your sequencer out!

I’m looking a bit more but it seems like to be a 16 step sequencer ?? 96 ticks per step is a strict minimum and mine is at 192 like hapax. (I’ve seen now that M8 can shift notes but just like Elektron you can’t zoom or put many notes)
With zoom on sequence on mine and also the possibility to write rolls or delays as notes and modulations as automations.
I also did patch editor so I can do all from my sequencer and mostly for my Jomox Airbase 99 being really boring to edit it’s nice

I tried to do some nice rolls today but classical problem when programming with GPT from last update he did a problem that you don’t hear some changes while editing . It’s corrected but with few solar energy actually I can just hope some good sun tomorrow to got back on my loop

And that one shows a bit more (from mid video) what can be done with the special Roll, even in real time with roll notes hapening before the notes of the sequence instead of after on all sequencers
