Feature Request: single handed drum lane/instrument mutes

Hi Gang,
especially during live performances it is essential for me to mute individual drum lanes (e.g. for drops, breaks and bridges).

At the moment this is only possible via the MUTE & ROW shortcut using both hands simultaneously.

That is a big limitation because I would like to use the second hand for other things at the same time (FX, mixer mutes etc)
Thats why I would like to request the possibility to mute and unmute drum lanes with one hand.

One approach/suggestion would be to use the row buttons as mutes.
This could be done by putting them in “mute mode” e.g. with 2TH + MUTE: the ALL button could then light up eg in red and serve as mute/unmute all button, while the individual row buttons would mute and unmute the lanes.

What do you think about this suggestion?
Are there more elegant ways to implement it?

Thanks and cheers!

I would love to see something like this, though when playing live what I tend to do is just copy the drum track into more than one track and have each part in each track. As I rarely have anywhere near 16 tracks running at any given time I can get away with this.

I can then use the main mute page with two projects running which is absolutely awesome!

Same here for the kick drum and the rest and I just use the faders of my TR-8S to bring in and out the different drums.

The TR8-s with its faders is great in this aspect.
However im currently using 4 drum machines/synths with 4-12 instruments each.
While all of them theoretically offer an individual instrument mute/volume option, in practice only one of them fits this purpose for live tweaking.

My track count is currently around 12, so there isnt any space to spread individual instruments of single machines on several tracks (which would also be to tedious from a workflow perspective).

So a single handed lane mute feature would be highly appreciated!

to spin this thought/feature request a bit further:
another suggestion on top would be to determine the behaviour of the mutes (from the mutes screen) withe the ALL button (according to the first post):
eg:

  • ALL red: the mutes from the global mute screen will override (cancel) the current single lane mutes
  • or ALL green: single lane mutes will be kept even when the instrument is muted via the global mute screen.

another welcome behaviour would be to use the ALL button to unmute all the mutes of the individual lanes

thanks and cheers!
