Effects question: Output to another channel then add effects

Hi all, hope this makes sense- I’m using the output midi effect to route a droning chord to a 2nd synth. In the 2nd synth I want to mess with the notes & add stuff like arpeggios with other midi effects.

Is this possible? When I’m attempting this the 2nd synth receives the chords but when I add midi FX to it nothing happens. The 2nd synth just copies what the first synth is playing & the FX aren’t being applied.

A workaround is to sequence the chords in the 2nd synth (the one I want to mess with) & send the droning chords to the first (and accept that I won’t be able to run midi FX on it).

The workaround is fine & makes this feel like a first world problem, but I can’t help wondering if I’m doing something dumb & the order I want to use is possible.

Note that I haven’t updated the Hapax’s OS yet. Apologies if the new OS fixes this.

If you can spare the IO use MIDI loopback to another Hapax track and go nuts.

Squarp, this is yet another example of where virtual MIDI buses would save us from eating up precious physical IO!
