Changing velocity of Vermona DRM1 with external controller

Hi, I am pretty new to Hapax. I have a drum track controlling my Vermona DRM1 mkIV. The only messages DRM1 responds, besides note values, is velocity. So what I am trying to achieve is to map velocity offset to a fader on external controller - to use it like a volume fader.

So in the matrix I mapped external CC to velocity, but it doesn’t work. The velocity/volume of notes stays the same no matter which position the fader is in. I can only hear velocity changes while I am moving the fader, but once I leave it, the notes continue to play with the original velocity values.

Does anybody know why this is happening, an how do I achieve what I want. I tried changing parameters like “consume” and “polarity”, etc., but that doesn’t change anything.

Update: I was able to make it work by using a scaler effect on velocity, and mapping a cc to the bend parameter. It kind of gives me what I want, but I am still curious why it cannot work with velocity directly.
