Beta 2.30 - MPE and Osmose

It’s getting better with the new Beta and improved MPE support, but I still have problems with the Osmose and trying to record the Osmose into Hapax with full expression. In my setup between HAPAX and OSMOSE sits a MioXL for Midi routing. No DIN, all USB Midi.

So on my Hapax track I use:
Input: USB Device MPE 1-16
Output: USB Dev2 15-1 Upper Zone.
In the MioXL I route the Hapax Port 2 to the Osmose Port 2.

Any idea if this is close to how it should be? For the Output I tried all variants, this one seems in playback get close to it. BUT: most of the expression (Aftertouch, Pitchbend etc.) does not come through. Any setup advice is most welcome!!

Beta 2.30 ? How can we have access to this beta ?

Hi, I got it via an eMail - maybe because I had a support case re MPE in the past. Hope it will be a public release soon!

Damn that’s great ! So what are the new features of this beta ?

Your output is way off to work correctly with Osmose. You want USB Device2 2-14 Lower Zone

Channels 15 and 16 are reserved in Osmose for Haken MPE+ functionality and communication with the Haken Matrix.

Hi guys,

We will soon release the 2.30 beta version on this forum

Hi - not improving with mine. Yes, I can use input via Hapax (Live or Step) and it plays notes on the Osmose “without expression”. But recording with the Osmose via Input USB Device MPE 1-16 just creates random results. Looking at the MIDI Monitor just parts of the messages get in the Midi input.

Something else must be going on. I’d suggest doing what I did first which is plug Osmose USB directly into USB Host on Hapax and get it working correctly there first, because your MioXL is introducing extra complexity that is hard to troubleshoot through.

Once I had it working correctly between Osmose and Hapax directly, I reintroduced my normal midi workflow (USB hub into Bome Box) and got it working correctly there as well.

If your issue is on the Osmose side or in your MioXL configuration then it will never be fixed by adjusting settings in the Hapax.

I can tell you that this new update gives the best performance so far I’ve seen between Osmose and Hapax, but it is not perfect, but my suspicion is that the issue may be on the Osmose side. I’m going to connect it to my DAW to see if I can replicate the issues there and then be able to figure out how much Hapax is responsible for.

I will do exactly that - will let you know about my results / thanks!

I tried direct USB connection between Hapax and Osmose - same results as with the MioXL in between. No difference. Anyway I got a message from Squarp, that there will be another firmware release soon AND an Osmose setup guide
