Is it possible to do harmonic (chords) changes with sequences?

Well it does not appear to be. If tracks can be in isolated groups, sequences can be created in AABACA (Verse chorus, bridge etc) musical structures and still retain muting characteristics? Maybe this can be a mode option. Example; A typical 12 bar blues sequence… Am I just dreaming here? This capability would make Squarp the mother of all hardware sequencers (MOAHS)!

Can you explain what it is you are trying to do in a bit more detail?

I’ll have a stab at this based on what you are offering so far.

  • Make a track for each instrument you want playing
  • Make a pattern in each track for every section of your song you want to sequence
    e.g. Pattern 1 = Verse, Pattern 2 = chorus etc.
  • Press the red ‘record’ button in track mode so your mute states and pattern selections can be saved into a sequence.
  • Mute/Unmute the tracks you want to play in your Verse
  • Set all your patterns in all your tracks to pattern 1
  • Save this to Sequence 1
  • Mute/Unmute the tracks you want to play in your Chorus
  • Set all your patterns in all your tracks to pattern 2
  • Save this to Sequence 2
  • Repeat as required
  • Jump to sequence mode and create a Sequence chain that plays Sequence 1,2,1, whatever, in the order you want.
  • You’re done.

If you’re not ready to get involved in patterns yet, you can do this just using tracks.
e.g.

  • Put all your verse tracks in Bank A, chorus tracks in Bank B, bridge in C etc.
  • Mute/Unmute as required and save to different Sequences.

You might find you run out of tracks though, or your project gets a bit hard to navigate. But if it works for you, it works. So don’t sweat it.

Let me know if this has been helpful.
